Seawater-resistant TUBUS dampers protect maintenance boats from damage during landing
The maintenance of wind turbines in open seas has long resulted in damage to maintenance boats. Because of impact velocity and swell, an increase in the boat's mass of up to 20 % must be taken into account when landing on a rigid mooring structure. It is only since the landing operation has been carried out with the aid of the ACE company's TUBUS structural dampers that cable repair and maintenance work on wind turbines has been made safe for both personnel and equipment. The TUBUS TS84-43 used here are seawater resistant and withstand ambient temperatures from -40 °C to +90 °C.
Matching Applications
Profile Dampers - TUBUS TR-L
Saltwater-resistant impact protection for lifeboats When launching lifeboats, it is theoretically conceivable that there will be contact between the ship and lifeboat. Launching appliances with protective bodies are fitted in order that the lifeboat is not damaged. Since TUBUS TR-L profile dampers have been doing this job on one of the largest passenger ships in the world, the regular replacement of the damping elements has become a thing of the past. This is because in contrast to earlier solutions made of rubber, the material of the ACE profile dampers does not become brittled or cracked, even in contact with salt water and UV irradiation.
Safety Shock Absorbers - SDP63 to SDP160
Impact absorption for lock gates Driving into lock gates should be specifically facilitated when navigating through Dutch river locks. That is why ACE developed special dampers, based on existing SDP safety shock absorbers but with optimized characteristics, a fixed stop and a stroke of 800 mm. These are able to absorb 500,000 Nm, which means they can cope with fully loaded ships and also the mechanical impacts resulting from water movement. To return to the initial position, the safety shock absorbers operate on the same nitrogen-based principle as the gas springs produced by the damping specialists in Langenfeld.
